These are not only great for little kids but also for the entire family. The apples, once baked, become soft and tasty. The topping pairs nicely with the apples. In addition, either almond flour or old-fashioned rolled oats may be used for the topping.
This Apple Crisp may be served on its own or with some yogurt.
🍎2 pounds Organic Apples (about 5 large apples), I used Gala
🍎1 tablespoon filtered water
🍎2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
🍎1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
❣️1 cup almond flour or 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
❣️1/4 cup flaxseed meal
❣️3 tablespoons maple syrup, add more or less depending on your preference
❣️2 tablespoons oil, I used avocado oil
❣️1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
🍎Preheat the oven to 350 F
🍎Wash and peel the apples. Remove the core and cut it into small pieces or into small chunks.
🍎Add them to a 8-by-8 inch squared baking dish.
🍎Add the lemon juice, water and ground cinnamon.
🍎Toss to evenly coat and mix. Set aside to make the topping
❣️To a bowl, add the almond flour or oats, flaxseed meal, and ground cinnamon.
❣️Mix to combine.
❣️Add the maple syrup and oil. Mix to combine.
❣️Spoon it over the apples and spread it out evenly.
❣️Bake it in the oven for 35-40 minutes.
❣️Let it cool and serve.
❣️Transfer the rest to a glass food storage container and keep it in the refrigerator.
